This is a beautiful mammal with large eyes, black stripes along the snout and neat horns.
Gemsbok
A native of Namibia and Southern Africa, these are handsome animals with extremely long spiralling horns and black and white facial markings.
Flick of the Tongue
Monitor lizards such as this African Savannah Monitor taste the air with their highly sensitive forked tongues, picking up the scent of their prey as they move along.
Roaming Senses
A monitor lizard is perfectly adapted for life in the savannah. Its forked tongue can track the scent of prey a kilometer away and its tough scales absorb the suns rays and keep the monitor in motion.
Dung Beetles
Two dung beetles work together to roll a piece of dung into a ball. The funny object then wobbles across the cracked desert floor as the beetle rolls it towards his home.
Eye of the Skink
A desert skink basks in the bright sunshine and casts a black watchful eye at the camera lens as it clicks away. Its intricately patterned body blends in with the stony floor.
A Death in the Wilderness
A giraffe carcass lies baking under the blazing sun in the remote salt pans of Namibia’s Etosha Basin. Its patterned hide lies draped over the skeleton like an old cloak over a broken chair.
